It was NYE 1999 when I realized love at first sight was real. I’d seen her standing across the dance floor and knew I had to dance wherever she was dancing.
At that time I was living in Botswana where it was illegal to be gay. There was no such thing as queer representation anywhere and subsequently I stayed so deeply in the closet while I pined after Maryanna.
